The Logistics National Sales Center (NSC) Dispatcher is responsible for the movement of vehicles as well as the ongoing relationship with United Road’s internal and external carrier base. The Logistics NSC Dispatcher utilizes United Road’s proprietary system (OVISS), Central Dispatch website and other members of the United Road Team to dispatch vehicles in a timely manner. A high degree of effort is required to dispatch and manage United Road’s carrier base for the success of each vehicle movement in a timely manner as well as with a profitable margin.


  • Review and prioritize region specific vehicles through the  OVISS system for dispatching
  • Independently dispatch specific region in a timely manner by using all resources available (i.e. Central Dispatch, OVISS Report Writer, Microsoft Office, etc.) ensuring to obtain the best possible margin
  • Manage and maintain relationships with carriers to solidify repeat carrier usage and accountability
  • Provide sales team with accurate information and keep them informed of pricing, lane or time issues
  • Address any and all issues that arise during the dispatch process with supervisor as well as sales team in order to meet and/or exceed customers’ expectations
  • Be accessible to sales after normal business hours on an “as needed basis” to conduct business and service accounts/carriers
  • Oversee all carrier communication within specific assigned region
  • Adhere to policies and procedures by keeping pricing and other information pertaining to customer rates or carrier rates confidential
  • Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership of new and/or different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Identify additional room for improvement in the team by bringing ideas to supervisor for review and implementation

Dispatcher in Warren, MI

The main function of the Dispatcher is to help coordinate our professional car haulers’ across the region with accuracy, courtesy, and superb service, which allows both the driver to maximize their revenue and earnings potential. This position requires a self-motivated professional with the ability to think quickly on his/her feet, exercise independent judgment, and possess the ability to work with our delivery professionals in a professional and courteous manner daily. A successful Dispatcher will have a unique ability to interact with our professional car hauler’s and possess the ability to balance their desires with customer requirements, while constantly maintaining focus on the car hauler’s revenue requirements and company profitability.

Job Duties

  • Plan, coordinate and manage loads in an efficient and cost effective manner
  • Serve as first point of contact for professional car haulers and manage all aspects of the dispatch process which ranges from load assignment to delivery and any issues that may arise during the process.
  • Maintain constant line of communication and positive professional relationships with internal and external customers
  • Monitor all delivery professionals’ daily activities and current orders to confirm accurate pick-up and delivery, and prepare the driver’s daily deliveries in accordance with customer performance standards to achieve the customers on time requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively and professionally; Work in cross functional team to address service issues as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by terminal management.

  • College degree or one year of logistics experience preferably in a trucking environment
  • Strong oral, electronic, and verbal communication skills
  • Previous supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations
  • Elog experience is a plus
